Handmade Pottery Lady Head from San Antonio Castillo Velasco
Jose Garcia Antonio is a Master Sculptor from Oaxaca. Antonio, is a clay artist known as “manos que ven” (hands that see) who lost his eyesight in his fifties due to cataracts. He prefers to do his art during the night and sleeps during the day. Each piece is his wife Teresita’s likeness, complete with the prominent mole on her forehead, is reflected in many of her husband’s sculptures. He made this one with two holes in the back where you can hang on a wall or you can have it sit where she would capture everyones attention.
