This hand is handmade! Even though it doesn’t have a specific function, this piece, developed with the traditional techniques of Tonaltepec, has been adopted by the public for holding candles, little bowls, mezcal cups, or bread. These are one of the few pottery pieces in the world that use vegetable pigments for decorating. The deep brown stains are achieved right after they emerge from the kiln at a temperature close to the 900°C, when the artisans apply an ink made of cactus and oak bark.
